Becoming a creative director isn\u2019t an easy career to pursue fresh out of school. It takes time to build a portfolio and grow a network of contacts. But L\u00e9a-Elisabeth<\/a> has decided to do just that, and works with what she has \u2013 a great sense of style, a good eye for photography, and a rapidly growing Instagram following. <\/p>\n

With a classic and elegant wardrobe, L\u00e9a-Elisabeth puts together looks that I could only dream of! Her apartment in the south west of France is typically French and I adore when she gives us a peek inside her space.<\/p>\n

I had the chance to sit down with the Bordeaux-based creative recently during her internship in Paris to discuss her personal style and creative inspiration.<\/p>\n

Dis-moi ce que tu portes aujourd\u2019hui!<\/h3>\n

Je porte un ensemble Claudie Pierlot en tweed, il a un petit c\u00f4t\u00e9 Chanel que j\u2019adore.
\n\u00c9galement un petit pull rouge tout doux \u00e0 manche courte chin\u00e9 r\u00e9cemment, un collant, des babies vernies Jonak, ma pochette Louis Vuitton pour compl\u00e9ter ma tenue et le tour est jou\u00e9. C\u2019est la tenue id\u00e9ale pour les beaux jours !<\/p>\n

O\u00f9 est-ce que tu habites en France et qu’est-ce que tu fais dans la vie?<\/h3>\n

Je vis \u00e0 Bordeaux, je suis en fin d\u2019\u00e9tudes et \u00e9galement graphiste \u00e0 mon compte. J\u2019ai fait toutes mes \u00e9tudes \u00e0 Bordeaux. Enfin presque, car depuis janvier, j\u2019ai eu la chance de pouvoir venir vivre quelques mois \u00e0 Paris dans le cadre d\u2019un stage. A l\u2019heure o\u00f9 je te parle, je suis en train de faire mes bagages pour repartir \u00e0 Bordeaux. Je dois dire que cette exp\u00e9rience parisienne fut tr\u00e8s plaisante : j\u2019ai rencontr\u00e9 plein de nanas supers et j\u2019ai d\u00e9couvert de nouveaux endroits incroyables. Je suis un peu triste de repartir, mais en m\u00eame temps tr\u00e8s attach\u00e9e \u00e0 Bordeaux, donc j\u2019avoue que je suis mitig\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

Comment d\u00e9cris-tu ton style quotidien?<\/h3>\n

Et bien je suis quelqu\u2019un de tr\u00e8s classique, qui porte \u00e9norm\u00e9ment de basiques et qui aime \u00eatre \u00e0 l\u2019aise dans ses v\u00eatements. Je porte tr\u00e8s peu de jupes, je suis du genre pantalons. J\u2019aime mixer les genres : porter des vestes d\u2019hommes avec des bottines \u00e0 talons par exemple. Et je pr\u00e9f\u00e8re la qualit\u00e9 \u00e0 la quantit\u00e9. J\u2019ai toujours aim\u00e9 les belles mati\u00e8res, les belles coupes, mais surtout, les choses simples. Je porte peu de motifs, disons qu\u2019ils sont \u00e9galement tr\u00e8s simples : des pois ou des rayures, je crois que c\u2019est tout. Enfin, je suis le genre de nana qui pr\u00e9f\u00e8re \u00e9conomiser pour s\u2019acheter une belle pi\u00e8ce plut\u00f4t que trois pour le m\u00eame prix. Et en terme de durabilit\u00e9, c\u2019est bien plus rentable car la majorit\u00e9 de mes pi\u00e8ces favorites sont encore en tr\u00e8s bon \u00e9tat. <\/p>\n

Quelles sont tes \u00ab essentiels \u00bb garde de robe?<\/h3>\n

Difficile \u00e0 dire car presque toutes mes pi\u00e8ces sont assez classiques donc je les consid\u00e8re toutes comme des essentiels. Mais je pense que je ne pourrais pas me passer de mon trench beige chin\u00e9 en friperie, de mon jean levis 501 brut, de mes chemises Figaret Paris (blanche ou bleue), de mon sac seau de chez Cafune, et de mes bottines noires de chez Claudie Pierlot. Ce sont des pi\u00e8ces intemporels, et je pense que m\u00eame dans 10 ans, elles feront toujours leur petit effet.<\/p>\n

Quelles sont tes \u00ab essentiels \u00bb de beaut\u00e9?<\/h3>\n

Depuis quelques ann\u00e9es, j\u2019ach\u00e8te mes produits pour la peau et les cheveux en pharmacie. J\u2019aime beaucoup la masque \u00e0 l\u2019argile rose de chez Cattier, l\u2019eau micellaire Bioderma, le masque pour les cheveux Phyto, et l\u2019huile de ricin Natessance (pour faire des bains d\u2019huiles \u00e0 mes cheveux une fois par mois). En terme de maquillage, j\u2019\u00e9vite les couches et aime beaucoup les produits Mac. Je porte leur poudre min\u00e9rale, leur blush couleur p\u00eache et leur rouge \u00e0 l\u00e8vre mat chili. Mon mascara quant \u00e0 lui vient de chez Lanc\u00f4me.<\/p>\n

Qu’est-ce que c’est le \u00ab style fran\u00e7ais \u00bb pour toi? As tu des conseils pour les femmes qui commencent avec le \u00ab style fran\u00e7ais \u00bb ?<\/h3>\n

Simple, chic et romantique. C\u2019est comme \u00e7a que je per\u00e7ois le style des fran\u00e7aises, \u00e0 la fois confortable et \u00e9l\u00e9gant, il passe partout et reste intemporel. <\/p>\n

\"L\u00e9a-Elisabeth<\/p>\n

C\u2019est quoi la tenue typique pour toi dans ces situations:<\/h3>\n

  • Un lundi au travail<\/strong>: Pour affronter le d\u00e9but de la semaine, je pr\u00e9f\u00e8re \u00eatre vraiment confort. Donc je dirais : un pull marini\u00e8re en laine Saint James, un 501 clair de chez Levis, un trench beige avec une paire de converses blanches. Pour le sac, le num\u00e9ro 1 de chez Pol\u00e8ne couleur terre de sienne.<\/li>\n
  • Un samedi avec tes amis<\/strong>: Un costume deux pi\u00e8ces cintr\u00e9 en velours noir (Idano), un d\u00e9bardeur en satin \u00e9cru (intimissimi), une paire de bottines rouge vernies (Bershka), et ma pochette Louis Vuitton.<\/li>\n
  • La premi\u00e8re rencontre avec un amoureux potentiel<\/strong>: Pour le premier rendez-vous, disons qu\u2019il faut ne pas en faire trop, du coup je dirais : un jean brut (Levis) avec la veste assortie, un chemisier romantique \u00e0 dentelle en dentelle (Rouje) et une paire de babies vernies noires (Jonak). C\u00f4t\u00e9 sac : une petite pochette rock (Zadig et Voltaire) en daim marron.<\/li>\n
  • Une soir\u00e9e ou un d\u00eener sp\u00e9cial<\/strong>: En g\u00e9n\u00e9ral je profite des soir\u00e9es sp\u00e9ciales pour sortir les robes qui sont dans mon placard, donc : une robe portefeuille longue noire agr\u00e9ment\u00e9e de quelques fines perles (Tara Jarmon) assortie \u00e0 une paire de sandales \u00e0 talons dor\u00e9es (Carel) et un sac en perles noires (Zara).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    O\u00f9 est-ce que tu trouves l’inspiration pour tes tenues?<\/h3>\n

    Je trouve l\u2019inspiration dans les magazines, dans les expositions, sur instagram, mais aussi dans la rue et aupr\u00e8s des gens qui m\u2019entourent. Et je m\u2019habille surtout en fonction de mon humeur du jour.<\/p>\n

    O\u00f9 pr\u00e9f\u00e8res-tu faire du shopping \u00e0 Bordeaux?<\/h3>\n

    Je n’ach\u00e8te que tr\u00e8s peu de v\u00eatements en boutique, je suis plut\u00f4t commandes sur internet. Mais j’aime aller dans ces deux friperies: Vintage Paradise et Steack-Fripes o\u00f9 je chine toutes mes pi\u00e8ces vintages. Apr\u00e8s j’aime aller chez Massimo Dutti, Sandro, Claudie Pierlot, et surtout me balader aux Galeries Lafayette. <\/p>\n

    Qu’est-ce tu aimes le plus de la vie \u00e0 Bordeaux?<\/h3>\n

    Je suis amoureuse de la ville, de son architecture, de la m\u00e9t\u00e9o, de la proximit\u00e9 avec l\u2019oc\u00e9an et des endroits supers qui s\u2019y trouvent. Au-del\u00e0 de tout \u00e7a, il y a surtout beaucoup moins de monde qu\u2019\u00e0 Paris et j\u2019avoue que l\u2019air est plus agr\u00e9able \u00e0 respirer. Avec du recul, je trouve que le cadre de vie est vraiment diff\u00e9rent de la capitale au final, bien que l\u2019on dise que Bordeaux est \u00ab un petit Paris \u00bb.<\/p>\n

    Ta meilleure copine vient \u00e0 Bordeaux pour la journ\u00e9e. O\u00f9 l\u2019emm\u00e8nes-tu ?<\/h3>\n

    Nous commencerons par aller prendre le petit-d\u00e9jeuner place du Parlement, puis nous nous baladerons dans le centre ville pour faire quelques emplettes. Le midi, en fonction de notre faim et nos envies, nous irons soit : manger une salade place des Grands Hommes; une tajine en terrasse sur la place Saint Michel; ou italien \u00e0 Gambetta. Puis nous irons nous promener au jardin public, et j\u2019en profiterais pour lui montrer le jardin botanique que j\u2019aime tant. Ensuite, juste \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 du jardin, je lui montrerais le coeur des Chartrons, quartier cher \u00e0 mon coeur, dans lequel j\u2019ai pass\u00e9 de nombreuses ann\u00e9es. Nous irons jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la place des Chartrons prendre un verre, puis nous balader sur les quais pour voir le coucher du soleil. Pour finir, nous nous dirigerons vers Les Halles de Bacalan, pr\u00e8s de Cit\u00e9 du Vin pour aller d\u00e9guster quelques tapas, boire quelques verres de vin et regarder le couch\u00e9 du soleil. <\/p>\n

    Tell me what you\u2019re wearing today!<\/h3>\n

    I\u2019m wearing a Claudie Pierlot tweed two-piece. It has a little Chanel vibe to it that I adore. Also a soft red sweater with short sleeves that I thrifted recently, black tights, patent leather low heels by Jonak, and a Louis Vuitton clutch to complete my outfit. It\u2019s the perfect outfit for sunny days! <\/p>\n

    Where do you live in France and what are you doing there?<\/h3>\n

    I live in Bordeaux, I\u2019m at the end of my studies and also a graphic artist. I did all of my studies in Bordeaux \u2013 well, nearly, because since January I had the chance to live for a few months in Paris to do an internship. Right now, I\u2019m in the middle of preparing my luggage to return to Bordeaux. I have to say that this Parisian experience was really nice: I met so many cool women and I discovered new incredible places. I\u2019m a little sad to be leaving but at the same time, really attached to Bordeaux, so I\u2019d say it\u2019s bittersweet!<\/p>\n

    How would you describe your everyday style?<\/h3>\n

    I am someone who is very classic, who wears a ton of basics and who like to be at easy in my clothing. I rarely wear skirts as I much prefer pants. I love to mix styles : wearing men\u2019s jackets with heeled boots, for example. I prefer quality over quantity. I have always loved beautiful materials, beautiful cuts, and especially simple things. I wear few patterns, or you could say I wear really simple patterns: polka dots or stripes, that\u2019s pretty much all. Basically, I\u2019m the type of girl who prefers to save up to buy one beautiful piece rather than three pieces for the same amount of money. In terms of durability, it\u2019s way more beneficial because the majority of my favorite pieces are still in really good condition. <\/p>\n

    What are your wardrobe essentials?<\/h3>\n

    That\u2019s hard to say because nearly all my pieces are classic, so I consider them all essentials. But I think I could not do without : my beige trench coat that I thrifted at a second-hand shop, my raw-hem Levi\u2019s 501 jeans, my Figaret button-up shirts (in blue and in white!), my Cafune bucket bag, or my black Claudie Pierlot boots. These are timeless pieces and I think that even in 10 years, they will still be impressive. <\/p>\n

    What are your beauty essentials?<\/h3>\n

    For many years, I have bought my skincare and haircare products at the pharmacy. I really love the pink clay mask by Cattier, Bioderma\u2019s micellar water, the Phyto hair mask, and the Castor oil by Natessance for using on my hair once a month. In terms of make-up, I avoid too many layers, and I love products by Mac. I wear their mineral powder, their peach colored blush, and their matte lipstick in \u201cChili.\u201d My mascara is from Lanc\u00f4me!<\/p>\n

    What is \u201cFrench style\u201d for you? Do you have any advice for women getting started with the \u201cFrench style\u201d ?<\/h3>\n

    Simple, chic and romantic. That\u2019s how I perceive the style of French women, comfortable and elegant at the same time, it works everywhere and remains timeless! <\/p>\n

    What is your typical outfit in these situations:<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • Monday at work<\/strong>: To face the start of the week, I prefer to be really comfortable. So I would say, a striped marini\u00e8re sweater made of wool by Saint James, a pair of light wash Levi\u2019s 501 jeans, a beige trench, and a pair of white Converse sneakers. As for my bag, I\u2019d choose the Num\u00e9ro 1 bag from Pol\u00e8ne, in the “Terre de Sienne” color. <\/li>\n
    • Saturday with your friends<\/strong>: A two-piece suit made of black velvet by Idano, an off-white satin tank top from Intimissimi, a pair of red patent leather boots from Bershka, and my Louis Vuitton clutch. <\/li>\n
    • A first date<\/strong>: For the first date, you can\u2019t put too much effort in, so I would say : a raw-edge jean from Levi\u2019s with the matching jean jacket, a romantic lace shirt by Rouje, and a pair of little black low-heels by Jonak. As for the bag, a little rocker-style clutch by Zadig et Voltaire in brown suede. <\/li>\n
    • A special dinner or party<\/strong>: In general, I take advantage of special events to wear the dresses in my closet, so : a long black wrap dress embellished with some small pearls by Tara Jarmon, paired with my gold heeled sandals from Carel and a black pearl bag from Zara. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Where do you find inspiration for your outfits?<\/h3>\n

      I find inspiration in magazines, art exhibitions, on Instagram, but also in the street and from people around me. I definitely dress according to my mood that day! <\/p>\n

      Where do you prefer to shop in Bordeaux?<\/h3>\n

      I buy very few clothes in-store; I prefer to order online. But, I do love these two thrift shops: Vintage Paradise and Steack-Fripes where I thrift all my vintage pieces. After, I love shopping at Massimo Dutti, Sandro, Claudie Pierlot, and especially walking around Galeries Lafayette.<\/p>\n

      What do you love most about living in Bordeaux?<\/h3>\n

      I\u2019m in love with this city, from its architecture to its weather to the proximity to the ocean and the super cool places that are found there. Beyond all that, there are also far fewer people than in Paris and I admit that the air is much easier to breathe. In hindsight, I find that the lifestyle is really different than in the capital, although some people say Bordeaux is the \u201clittle version of Paris!\u201d <\/p>\n

      Your best friend is coming to Bordeaux for the day. Where do you take them?<\/h3>\n

      We would start by having breakfast at Place du Parlement, then we would go walking in the centre ville to do a little shopping. Midday, depending on our hunger, we would go either to eat a salad in Place des Grands Hommes, a tajine on the sidewalk at Place Saint Michel, or Italian food at Gambetta. Then, we would go walking at the public garden to take advantage of the beautiful Botanic Garden that I love so much. Next, right near the garden, I would show her the heart of Chartrons, a neighborhood dear to my heart, where I spent several years. We would go to Place des Chartrons to have a drink, then walk along the riverbanks to watch the sun begin to set. To finish, we would go towards Les Halles de Bacalan, near the Cit\u00e9 du Vin to try some tapas, have a few glasses of wine, and watch the sun set!
