The French<\/em> was founded on Instagram<\/a> in 2018 out of a passion for casual-chic French style. More than just a clich\u00e9, I believe French style is about elegance and timeless design. I hope my style guides, wardrobe philosophy, and brand suggestions will help you to create a robust wardrobe that takes you through all of life\u2019s moments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Editor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The French<\/em><\/em> was founded by me, Victoria Petersen<\/a>. I’m an American from Connecticut (by way of New York) living between Miami Beach and Paris. I started The French<\/em><\/em> when I decided to re-do my wardrobe in 2018. I had been wearing the same style of clothing since college and I felt I needed a serious wardrobe refresh. I started researching and came across the French wardrobe philosophy that resonated with me. I decided to share my process and inspiration on this site and on Instagram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, I decided to make a move to Paris which I had been dreaming about since leaving France more than 10 years ago. I spent time in France during high school and had always wanted to return to the country as an adult. I started making regular trips to Paris in 2017 and eventually settled in a small apartment in the 7th arrondissement<\/em> in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I then moved to the heart of the arts and fashion district Le Marais<\/em> where I get to discover Parisian street style, new designers, and the latest French concept stores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
